Saturday we drove to Sedona and hiked around admiring the beautiful red rocks and scenery. After Sedona we went the the Coconino County Fair. I had entered two pies, a spiced pear and a strawberry plum, and was anxious to find out how they did. Read my Bake Sale Blog to get the juicy details. At the fair we looked at all of the exhibits and watched the junior 4-H livestock auctions. I had never been to a real life auction before. It was quite entertaining to watch 10 year old little girls trying to herd steers that were 1275 pounds. These kids were phenomenal with the animals. If we didn't live in a apartment I might have bought a pig or a goat or perhaps even a steer.
The next morning we woke up, went off-roading in our little Honda Civics (both of us own Civics, and due to limited space needed both for camping equipment). I don't recommend taking little civics on the road to the Lava Tubes. After hardly making it to the entrance of the Tubes we hiked the 3/4 mile long cave.
After getting back from our little camping trip my sister and her husband had to leave to go back to their real lives. It was sad to see them go. Today we had to go back to school, back to work and back to reality. Jared and I are now catching up on homework and looking our pile of laundry with disdain. Such is life.
It sounds like you had a lot of fun. I don't know if I am brave enough to go to the Lava Tubes like your sister and brother-in-law. I am so excited for you winning at the fair.
