My Pregnant Life

Before I got pregnant I told myself that I would not be one of those people who solely blogged about my pregnancy or anything related to that. Obviously this pregnancy is consuming my life, which means that you get to read a quick update on how I am feeling and some of my crazy pregnant thoughts. I blame the pregnancy hormones for procrastinating my blogging.

To begin with, here is the story of how I told Jared I was pregnant. It happened one day when I knew he had class. I had suspected I was pregnant for a couple days but I refused to take the test until I had an evening to prepare. That morning I woke up and took the test. I saw the classic two pink lines and was extremely happy. That day was the longest day of my life. It is really hard to keep secrets from Jared, but I knew I had to. That evening after I dropped him off at class I put my plan in action. I prepared a dinner with baby back ribs, baby peas, baby new potatoes and Dad's root-beer. When I picked up Jared from class he walked into the apartment and smelled heaven. As we sat down to eat I kept emphasizing the fact that the baby peas were delicious, and so were the baby potatoes and the baby back ribs. Jared acted clueless while I got frustrated. Eventually he turned to me and said "I'll stop messing with you, is it true?" I gave him a dirty look and told him that it was. I then pulled out dessert which was a Baby Ruth candy bar pie. We then had a little excited freak out and plotted how to keep this a secret for the next 12 weeks. As you know we only were able to keep it a secret for just over 10 weeks, because neither of us are good liars.

That evening Jared did insist that we go to the store and buy one of the pregnancy tests with a digital reading to double check that I really was pregnant. He is not a believer in two little pink lines. Over the next week I took two more tests to prove to myself that I really was pregnant. At nine weeks we got an ultra-sound picture, and yesterday at 12.5 weeks I got to hear the heart beat.

Overall I am doing pretty well. I didn't get nauseous until about seven weeks and then it has slowly continued to get worse. Hopefully it will begin the down hill trend quickly because school starts on Tuesday and I need all the energy I can get to survive my LAST semester before I graduate. Luckily for me my boss at work has agreed to let me help her in the office instead of driving in circles all day long which will be a total blessing for me and this baby. Baby Jones will be one lucky baby.

  3. Things to help with nausea:

1--ginger anything. I make a yummy tea with fresh grated ginger root, steeped in hot water (if you have a tea ball/spoon it works great), lemon slices, sugar or honey to taste.

    2--Vitamin B6, 50mg 3xs a day.

3--Papaya enzyme tablets several times a day.

    4--Protien snacks.

You will feel better once you hit that magical 2nd trimester! Promise!
