Wow, it's December 13

The semester has finally ended. Wow. It was a crazy semester. Working full-time, pretending to be a excellent student and having a semi-clean house took all the energy I could muster. As I brilliantly compose this blog entry I am wiped clean of creative ways in which to describe the happenings around our tiny apartment. I suppose the best way is just to start, so here goes. I'll list the most exciting things to happen since my last blog entry, almost a month ago.

I realized that I had forgotten to share how wonderful Thanksgiving was this year. It might be my favorite holiday. I have to admit it is not because I am a super grateful individual, but it's because my birthday always rolls around during Thanksgiving. I really like getting presents. On a side note,  Jared did spoil me this year. If you want the details, feel free to call me.  He is such a good husband and best friend.
For Thanksgiving this year we met my family up in Cedar Breaks, Utah at some ski resort. My parents graciously use their time share points for our family reunions. This year my mom decided to surprise us my cooking steaks, the size of a typical dinner plate, instead of the traditional turkey. I loved it, and Jared was ecstatic about the idea. Of course I did make the desserts which included pumpkin, peach and apple pies. The pie on the left is a sample of the pies I made this year.  After gorging ourselves with food we then spent the day lounging around with all of my family. We introduced our family to the new Jenga Max. It is like K'nex and Jenga merged into one game. It entertained us for hours.

Unfortunately Friday morning my brother, sister and her husband had to leave. I didn't even think to get pictures of them while they were there. If I had Photoshop I would have put them into the picture. After they left we spent that day walking around Cedar Breaks, sledding down any hills we could find, soaking in the hot tub and sauna and enjoying life. My mom, little sister and me did manage to squeeze in some facials. That was a special treat.  It was quite the day. We were so exhausted that we all went to bed early and enjoyed a beautiful night of much needed rest. Then the next morning we all woke up and left. I wished this Thanksgiving would have lasted at least a couple of more days.  Hopefully next year it will be longer and the other half of my family will be there for more of it.

The second exciting thing to happen is that it is the beginning of Christmas and the winter season. This year we heavily invested in a 24 inch tree. It sits in the corner of our apartment bringing in a slight twinkle of Christmas cheer to our daily lives. Some of the presents under it (which are mainly empty boxes that I wrapped) are taller than it; but the tree towers in personality and charisma.  The three stockings under it are for me, Jared and one for our betta fish, Bob. Bob is quite spoiled at our house. We even bought him some bloodworms this week.

The Christmas is coming quick. I feel ready for it. The weather here in Flagstaff is cooperating quite nicely with the Christmas season. Last week we got over two feet of snow. The best part about the snow is that two days of final exams were canceled because of the severity of the weather. Unfortunately for me one of my professors rescheduled one exam, and the other teacher just made us write a extra long paper instead of taking the exam. I was quite grumpy about that, but my finals are now over and I am quite pleased with myself. Somehow even with the craziness of everything I managed to do quite well in all of my classes.

To close of this blog entry I have to show off my one creative baking project of this week. I love the holidays because it gives me a chance to be domestic. Jared loves the fact that I like to experiment with food, especially sugar. This week was a Christmas party for church. I decided to go crazy and make some snowman cupcakes using an idea I found online. These cupcakes tasted just as good as they looked. At the party they were snatched up before I could even blink. Next Saturday I am doing the rest of my holiday baking. If you live here in Flagstaff it would be a great day to visit me.

Well, that is all for this blog entry. Hopefully over winter break I will have lots of adventures and be proactive in this writing in this blog. Until then, Merry Christmas!!
