Our Engagement Story and How we Met

Our Engagement Story

Once upon a time not so long ago, in the quaint city of Santaquin, Utah the sun was setting over The Valley and the aroma of grilled delicacies filtered the air. Inside the Jones’s lovely home, the crumbs of a scrumptious BBQ feast were being licked from the plates.

As the sun began it’s descent from the sky Jared, with his beautiful manly beard asked his incredibly beautiful and sexy girlfriend, Janina, if she wanted to go on a ride on the 4-wheeler his Dad had just bought. Janina smiled widely at the idea of the ride. “YES, lets go now,” she exclaimed excitedly as she hurriedly left the table almost pulling the tablecloth and all the plates off of the table in her haste to leave quickly. This was after all one of the main reasons she had agreed to this trip to meet his family. She wasn’t about to waste a minute diddle dawdling.

Upon preparing for departure Jared’s whole family went outside to see the takeoff. Janina was the first girl that Jared had brought home since he had moved out of the house and before his mission, and she had already captivated their hearts. When Jared was in the backroom Mrs. Jones approached Janina and informed her “if Jared ever breaks your heart, we decided that we are going to get rid of him and keep you instead.” Janina then knew that she was in with the family.

With the trailhead being 243 feet away from the front door and the trail leading up to the heart of the scenic Wasatch Mountains the four-wheeling could not be better. As they left, roar of the motor roared behind them and a billowing cloud of dust filled the air. The sun had just begun to turn the sky a breathtaking orange glow through the cloud of dust.

Jared handled the four-wheeler like an old seasoned professional as they started the ascent to the top of the Wasatch Range. They traversed rocks, valleys, fallen trees, a couple deer and some serious inclines as they made their way up the deep into the range. Turn after turn Janina began to hold on tighter and tighter to Jared’s muscular frame. She felt totally safe as she hung on for her life.

After what seemed an eternity they got to an overlook of the whole valley. By this time the glory of the magnificent sunset began to fade into the warm fall night air. On the face of the towering mountain, behind them, was the entrance to an old mine that had been then quite abandoned for many years. As they stood on that overlook, holding on to each other as tight as could be, the first stars began to appear overhead in all twinkling splendor.

As the crickets began to chirp, and the cool evening air began to flood the space around them Jared turned to Janina and said, “close your eyes, I have a surprise for you”. She curiously did, not quite sure what was happening. A few moments later Jared returned and was back at her side. As she opened her eyes he was on one knee in front of her holding a beautiful bouquet of colorful wild flowers with one scarlet red long-stem rose in the middle.

He cleared his throat and said with his voice shaking with emotion and nervousness. “ You bring sunshine into my everyday. Before I met you my world was bleak, and now you are my world, my sunshine, my true and everlasting love. You are the rose in the center of my life that stands out among the other common weeds. Look inside of the rose.” As she looked amongst the petals of the red scarlet rose she saw the sparkling of a diamond. Her hands shook as she took it out and examined it. It was the world’s most perfect engagement ring. He then slipped in on her finger asking her the question that every girl dreams to hear, “will you marry me?” With tears glistening in her eyes Janina said, “YES!!!”

As they gazed up into the clear night sky the stars twinkled with a new vigor being witnesses of this special moment, the demonstration of true love. Jared and Janina then hugged until their arms couldn’t hold on anymore. They then walked away from their spot to where the 4-wheeler was parked, ready to face whatever the world would bring upon them. As they walked away, arms entwined, they knew they would be holding on to each other for the rest of eternity.

The end.

How we Met

Once upon a time not so long ago, on May 15th, 2008 to be exact, I moved to the rugged wilderness of Alaska to drive tour buses. One of the first days of work I saw this beautiful bearded man who intrigued me quite intensely. His name was, and still is, Jared T. Jones. Something happened inside me as I first gazed at Jared in adoration I vowed to get to know him.

With some innocent stealthy stalking I was able to “accidentally” run into Jared a couple of times the first week of work. As we both got to know each other we both slowly started to have the feeling of instant twitterpation.
Our first date was the classic date of bowling and of a delectable Arby’s roast beef sandwich. Jared somehow had rigged the computer at the bowling ally to give him strikes whenever he bowled. This was the only way he was able to beat me. My professional bowling skills from the past didn’t even give me any advantage.

After this Jared and I spent every waking moment together. At times it was hard because we had to work a lot, and sometimes go on out of town trips but lucky for one of our supervisors thought it was cute that we were dating and gave us the same work schedule.

Throughout the rest of the summer Jared and I spend lots of time together exploring the state of Alaska by everything from train rides, to river rafting, to smoothie drinking, and lots of romantic walks with my temporarily adopted dog.

At the end of the summer we realized that we were deeply in love but sadly, we went separate ways. I came back to Mesa, Arizona and Jared to Price, Utah. It wasn’t until school had started for the both of us that Jared asked me to marry him. And then we got married. The end.
